The final year project was an experiment to see if a Virtual Learning Environment could successfully be made in the Adobe Flex Engine. The aim was to create and mkae learning for the 11+ fun through the use of games. I also wanted to lose the idea of page upon page of structured learning and instead make games that fused together play and education, a term coined in the past as ‘edutainment’, but now commonly referred to as ‘serious games’. These games recorded how the child students were getting on and then published and compared these scores for the parent to view and to see how their child had progressed over a set space of time. Using the charting system in Flex, the parent user could view all aspects of the child’s performance.

About me

Cogito ergo sum. ‘I think, therefore i am’. I have always believed in that when you find out who you are then you are free to go on and become something and hopefully create something remarkable. I had this mentality throughout this project and have now taken it on as a personal motto. I have been in the field of Interactive media for over 4 years now and have always put full commitment into everything I do, and a lot of people can back me up on that statement. This commitment runs through all aspects of my life and makes me be a better person. Originally I am from Birmingham, so I have an accent that does not resemble the elaborate and foreign surname, a place that i will always call home, but have now lived in Bournemouth for 5 years and don’t think i will want to leave this seaside town.
